Chocolate Cherry Cookies

Chocolate Cherry Cookies are so flexible. Use white, milk, semi-sweet chocolate. Use vanilla, almond, cherry flavoring. You are limited only by your imagination.

In my favorite I use white chocolate chips, and cherry flavoring. They look beautiful and have an intense cherry flavor.

Go ahead and rock your chocolate chip cookie world and create a cookie that is truly your own.


1 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 1/4 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, bitter-sweet chocolate chips, or mix it up with a total of 2 cups of chips total

1 jar (10 ounces) very well drained maraschino cherries and coarsely chopped


Preheat tour oven to 375F degrees.

Be sure that you position one of your oven's racks in the center of your oven.

Prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat with an electric mixer the butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla extract.  Continue to beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Scraping down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula until everything is well blended.

Add eggs to the sugar mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition scraping down the sides of the bowl again until fully blended.

Once the sugar mixture and eggs are fully combined gradually beat in the flour mixture just until incorporated. Mix only until fully blended. Do not over mix.

Stir in the chocolate chips and cherries into the cookie dough with a wooden spoon. Stir until they are evenly distributed.

Onto the prepared cookie sheets drop the cookie dough by rounded tablespoons 2 inches apart onto cookie sheets.

Place the cookie sheet into the oven.

Bake the Chocolate Cherry Cookies for 9 - 11 minutes or until the edges of the Chocolate Cherry Cookies are light golden brown.

Remove the cookie sheets from the oven.

Allow to cool on the cookie sheets for 2 minutes.

Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack.

Once the cookies are cooled place them into an airtight container.

These are wonderful cookies that freeze well. They thaw out very fast for those unexpected coffee guests.

Add some to your child’s lunch to brighten their day.
