Apple hazelnut tart

Apple Hazelnut Tart is a sure hit for your next dinner party. You may serve this tart with whipped cream, ice cream, or simply drizzled with caramel sauce.

This recipe makes one 10 inch tart.

Apple Hazelnut tart Recipe

Pre-heat your oven to 325F



1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4 cup all – purpose flour

6 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into small pieces and at room temperature

1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts


Place the four and sugar into a medium sized mixing bowl and combine. Using a pastry blender or a fork cut the softened butter into the flour mixture. Until it resemble coarse crumbs.

Add the chopped hazelnuts and with your hands toss all of the ingredients together until they are well combined.

Set this mixture aside until needed.



3 cups thinly sliced tart apples

1/3 cup sugar

1 tablespoon all - purpose flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


In a large size mixing bowl place all of the ingredients and toss gently until all of the apples are evenly coated.

Set this mixture aside until needed.



6 tablespoons salt free butter cut into small cubes

2 tablespoons sugar

1 large egg at room temperature

1 large egg yolk at room temperature

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder


In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer on low; combine the butter and sugar. Continue until the butter mixture is smooth and creamy.

Add the whole egg, and the egg yolk to the sugar mix and combine until very well blended.

Add the flour and baking power to the mixture and beat only until combined.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gather it into a ball. Roll the ball of dough out to fit your 10 inch tart pan including the sides.

Place the dough into your tart pan and trim the edges even with the rim or the pan.

Pour the filling into the crust and spread evenly over the bottom of the pan.

Sprinkle the topping evenly over the top of the apple filling.

Place the tart onto a baking sheet and into the pre-heated oven.  Bake the Apple Hazelnut Tart for 50 minutes.

Remove the tart from the oven and place it on a cooling rack for 1 – 2 hours.

You may serve this Apple Hazelnut Tart warm or cold.

This is a very nice alternative to a regular apple pie.
