Sticky Buns are a Sunday brunch favorite. So sticky and gooey. Perfect for those little surprizes in your bag lunches.
1 1/4 cups luke warm water
3 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons dry milk powder tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/3cup soft butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/4 cup chopped pecans
In a medium sized pot place all of the ingredients for the sauce. Place on medium heat and stirring the mixture heat until all of the sugar is dissolved. Pour into a 13” X 9” cake sheet pan and place the pecans onto the sauce. Set aside to cool.
In a small bowl; mix together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let rest for 5 minutes or until yeast is bubbly.
Put salt, bread flour, and dry milk powder in a large bowl and stir to combine. Add the yeast mixture and butter to the flour mixture and combine. Stir until the dough starts to leave the sides of the bowl and form a ball. Dough should be soft but firm enough to knead.
Turn out the dough to a lightly floured surface. Lightly dust your hands with flour, and knead it for 6 to 8 min., or until it begins to become smooth and supple.
Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl turning the dough over to coat all sides. Cover with a warm damp cloth. Allow the dough to rise about 1 hour. Dough should be close to double in size. I place bread dough on top of my stove where it will stay warm. This decreases the proofing time.
Punch down the dough. Place the dough onto a lightly floured board and using a rolling pin shape into a 16 X 9 inch rectangle.
Spread the butter for filling over the entire surface and sprinkle with the cinnamon.
Roll up the dough jelly roll fashion and pinch the seams together.
Slice the roll into 1 1/2 inch slices and place in the cake pan on top of the sauce. Cover with a warm damp cloth and allow to rise until double. This will take about 1 hour.
Pre heat oven to 350 F
Place the cake pan into the oven. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Remove the Sticky Buns from the oven. Allow to cool in the pan for 2 – 3 minutes. Turn the Sticky Buns out of the pan onto a serving plate.
May be eaten warm or cold.
